Orchid is a white Husky dog as graceful & delicate as her name!
She has a calm sophistication and her piercing blue eyes makes one’s heart melt.

This walk was an unusual one for me as it was the 1st walk I had when an event was taking place in the park.
Orchid pulled me to walk in the grass, I don’t know if a scent caught her nose or what but this unsuspecting action prevented me from being in harms way.
This park is spacious which allows for various events and booths to take place on the lawn.
Unfortunately the pavement for walkers to use is the same path that vehicles drive on to set up for events.
Fortunately I was lead to stray on the grass this particular day as there were a number trucks driving on the path setting up for an event that day.
Another volunteer walker later told me they almost got in a collision with a car . . .
We didn’t stay in the park for very long, we turned around and continued our walk away from the chaos, taking pleasure in the quietness.

We arrived at the “pup den” a hangout spot where I like to set a timer for 5 mins and unwind with the dogs.
Orchid didn’t mind the pause, she lay in the grass and enjoyed being petted the entire time.
There were no shortage of belly rubs.

It was my 1st and last walk with a dog whose name perfectly suites her.
Orchard was adopted the next business day!
You bet your fur-covered socks that I did a Happy paw-ty dance!!!
You can find many adoptable pets looking for a loving home at the Grand Prairie Animal Shelter.
Don’t live near this city, consider visiting your local animal shelter to receive and provide love to an animal in need.
Our 1st and last walk took place on Sep 22, 2024
