A Scary Incident No Husky Dog Owner Wants To Experience

It happened in flash . . .

One moment the vibe is serene and within a blink of an eye, it transforms to me needing to check my blood pressure and meditate just to calm down!

THE STORY:

I’m walking a husky named Estrella while having a pleasant chat with another dog walker who is walking a husky named Rogelio De La Vega or Roy for short.

These beautiful huskies are kennel mates, which means they get along well and walking next to one another shouldn’t cause any trouble.

We only walked 50 steps away from the entrance of the animal shelter before an abrupt gasp caught my attention.

I turned towards my walking partner and was met with a shocked expression on her face.

I followed her gaze as she dropped her head down only to realize she was no longer holding a leash in her hand.

I quickly turned my head forward to see a loose husky on the run, heading towards the street.

Chaos surrounded us humans, Estrella on the other hand, was unfazed by the sudden drama.

My initial reaction was to drop my leash in hopes Estrella wouldn’t run away but my better judgment told me not to, because two huskies on the loose could be trouble.

Another thought that flashed in my mind was to hand Estrella off to the other walker but the exchange would be sloppy and could result in another loose dog.

The other decision and the one I went with was to chase after Roy with Estrella alongside me.

I jolted down that pavement like my life depended on it, I can’t remember the last time I ran that quick.

Roy was too fast for my 2 legs, every time I thought I was close to grabbing his leash he moved further away from me.

To add to the stress an SUV was driving down the road while this was taking place.

Fortunately luck was on my side, Roy looked like he was zooming straight into the street but he suddenly turned around and started running in my direction.

I immediately stomped on his leash and his walker came to recapture him.

I don’t know what caused Roy to head back in our direction, I like to think it was Estrella’s energy beckoning him back.

Oh and about the SUV I mentioned, the driver was very sweet and friendly about the situation, they stopped their car in the middle of the street until Rio was safely back in the hands of his walker.

Watching this hair-raising scenario turn into one of relief from their car, they yelled “He was fast!” and threw a thumbs up and drove away.

THE END

What an interesting start to one’s morning!

It was an exhilarating experience for sure and made me wonder, “who needs coffee in the morning when you can wake yourself up by chasing a dog!”

Throughout the rest of our walk, Roy was recounting his adventures to everyone within earshot by howling the entire time.

ROY’S POINT OF VIEW:

The Plan: I’m free from the kennel, time to explore the great outdoors and show off my lighting fast speed, this will shock the humans

The Escape: You can’t catch me (heads towards the street)

The Plot Twist: Psych I’m just messing with yall (turns around)
